A tester or QA engineer is a specialist who checks how a program or application works. He or she performs testing and improves the usability of programs.
To get a first job, a newbie needs to know how to perform manual testing of web applications: understand the stages of software development and lifecycle, find bugs in the product and write bug reports, know everything about test design techniques, work with bug-tracking systems, APIs and databases.
The Automated Testing Engineer is already organizing automation processes on a project. He or she understands how web applications are built, is familiar with the JavaScript programming language, can independently write autotests and cover applications with UI tests.
